10th Annual Wine Expo
INTELSAT Building, Washington, D.C.
Saturday, October 23, 1999 5-8pm

On Saturday, October 23rd, the Tenth Annual Australian & New Zealand Wine Exposition (USA) welcomes guests to a wonderful Down Under festival featuring wine, beer, lamb and other delicacies. From 5 - 8 p.m., over 400 attendees will sample over 100 wines poured by prominent wine exhibitors. Hosted at the magnificent INTELSAT headquarters in Washington, D.C., the Australia American Association's Wine Expo is the largest annual showcase of Australian & New Zealand wines in the U.S. with guests expected from throughout North America and Washington's political, diplomatic, media, and business communities.

Established in 1989, the Australia America Association, a nonprofit membership organization, seeks to enhance business, cultural, economic, education, and personal ties between Australians and Americans. In pursuing these goals, the Association sponsors a variety of events for its membership and the general public, including the annual Australia Day Dinner tentatively scheduled for January 2000.

Early reservations are encouraged for this popular Wine Expo in part because of the wonderful venue donated by INTELSAT. The multi-award winning INTELSAT headquarters on Connecticut Avenue near the University of the District of Columbia resulted from a 1979 international competition with over 100 firms from 23 nations participating. An Australian firm, John Andrews International Pty. Ltd., won the competition with a design which exemplifies what John Andrews calls "a spirit of openness, of optimism, of faith in cooperation between peoples and groups of people, and the use of modern technology."
