Carnivore Restaurant
As the name implies, this unique restaurant offers a taste of Africa's unique carnivorous tradition. The real surprise is the full vegetarian and fish menu that is skillfully prepared for the many non meat eating tourists and locals. The feast begins with homemade soup and honey bread fresh from the oven. A lazy Susan with six salads and meat sauces, traditional "pap", a cornmeal puree with sauce and baked potato come next.

Then, along come the waiters and carvers who circulate wielding Masai swords laden with grilled meats that run the gamut from chicken, beef, pork and lamb to crocodile, ostrich, giraffe and kudu. They keep circulating until you literally put down the white flag indicating you've surrendered. A selection of desserts and coffees rounds off the feast. No trip to Johannesburg is complete without a visit to this unique and thoroughly enjoyable African experience.
